Schedule My TourDreams Come True
There’s no time like the present to try a new adventure, revisit memories, or bond with friends and family. Your dream may be big, or small. It may be riding a horse for the first time, attending a sporting event with grandkids, or revisiting a childhood home.
Your dreams are important to us because they are important to you. They are what make you unique.
Our signature Dare To Dream program recognizes the special hopes and aspirations of our residents–and then makes them a reality! We aim to make at least one resident’s dream come true each month in our community.

Stories From Our Community
Jean
One of our residents, Jean, is one of the hardest working ladies here in our community. She prides herself on keeping busy. If Jean sees any of the other residents or employees working on a project of any type she always offers to help and does it with a smile on her face.
Jean is a retired school teacher, and her teacher mentality is still very much present today. She enjoys helping other residents learn new skills, cleaning up after events, delivering newspapers every morning to her neighbors, helping less mobile residents to and from events, and so much more–she’s always ready to lend a helping hand, any way she can.
When the time came to nominate a resident for the community’s Citizen of the Year, Jean was the obvious choice. When Jean received her nomination, she was smiling from ear to ear with pride. We treated Jean to a special dinner out to celebrate all of her amazing contributions to our community this past year, and for her it was a dream come true!
Marjorie
Marjorie has been living at Parker Place for two and half years. She is usually one of our more reserved residents, so we knew it was important to find a way to get her out and about.
Marjorie comes from a large family with all her siblings being girls. Growing up, Marge and her sisters would spend a lot of time playing dress up and putting on fancy tea parties or special events.
On May 18th Parker Place made Marge’s dream come true! We took Marjorie to Des Moines for the evening to her granddaughter’s wedding. This was so special to Marge, because if Parker Place couldn’t have taken her, she would have missed the occasion.
Marge got to pick out a fancy outfit and Parker Place had her hair and makeup done for her so she could look and feel beautiful for her night in the city. Marge said “she felt so beautiful,” and smiled all night and told stories of her evening spent with family for weeks after!
Marvin
Before moving to Parker Place, Marvin attended the adult day program in his home town like it was his job.
Marvin now finds his purpose at Parker Place. He loves talking to people and always has inspiring words to brighten anyone’s day–other residents, and staff and visitors too. Marvin participates in and leads daily devotionals. This is especially important to Marvin as he was a preacher.
Marvin’s dream was to go back to Grand JiVantè and train the staff and residents on everything he has learned here. After several weeks of planning, Parker Place made his dream come true. Marvin gave us the grand tour of his home town of Ackley, then continued to Grand JiVantè and directed a tour of his prior Adult Day Program and Continuing Care Retirement Community.
Marvin was met at Grand JiVantè with hugs and coffee and we all shared treats while he gave his heartfelt speech to everyone in attendance. Not one eye was dry as Marvin concluded his speech by stating, “This was the best day of his life!”
